MOSCOW, March 17 (UPI) "Hamas is committed to peaceful resistance and there is no need to label it a terrorist organization," Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said.
He was responding to reports that the European Union is considering taking Hamas off the list of terrorist organizations. Given that Europe consider Islamo-fascist Hezbollah, Muslim Boy Scouts it would not be surprising if Hamas were invited to the opening of the European Parliament next session.

Aviv Kochavi, (photo) the Director of Military Intelligence in the Israeli army, told the Herzliya Policy and Security Conference yesterday that Iran and Hezbollah are establishing a popular army in Syria which would help prop up President Assad’s regime and create a foothold in the country in the event of Assad’s downfall. “They have begun by establishing a popular army trained by Hezbollah and financed by Iran, currently consisting of 50,000 men, with plans to increase to 100,000. If Assad were to be deposed, Iran would lose its’ “sole ally in the region surrounding Israel” and would “lose the ability to transfer weaponry through Syria to Hezbollah.”

The election of Pope Francis, previously Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio, has resurfaced a decades-old controversy surrounding the kidnappings of two Jesuit priests. Bergoglio was a high-ranking official in the Society of Jesus of Argentina when a military junta was installed in the South American country in 1976. A 2005 lawsuit accused Bergoglio of unspecified involvement in the abductions. Reuters explains that "the military government secretly jailed [Yorio and Jalics] for their work in poor neighborhoods." Both of the abducted clergymen survived five months of imprisonment.
"History condemns him. It shows him to be opposed to all innovation in the Church and above all, during the dictatorship, it shows he was very cozy with the military," Fortunato Mallimacci, the former dean of social sciences at the Universidad de Buenos Aires, said.
