NO OIL, MOSES?

A few years ago there was a book published called, "No Oil Moses." But verily it has come to pass that a lot, nay a multitude of oil and gas has come forth.The latest of the geological surveys has estimated that off the waters of Tel Aviv - well actually it's 50km off - the field of OZ will bring at least a goodly 660 billion barrels of oil and about 2.5 trillion cubic feet (TCF) of natural gas. Not bad, but still a smallish carp compared to Israel's Tamar and Leviathan fields, both located northwest of Oz. So Moses, or his wife, gets the gong after all!

OVERTAKING THE U.S.A!

Israel's Foreign Trade Authority reported that Asia is set to overtake the United States as Israel's second largest export destination this year. The ministry expects exports to Asia to grow from 21% of total exports in 2013, to 24.5% in 2018.

Authorities in China's Islam restive Xinjiang region are offering up to $8000 cash to anyone who reports on shady Muslim types with an over abandance of facial hair. Xinjiang has been hit by periodic deadly clashes between the Chinese authorities and members of the Muslim Uighur. China has blamed the violence on Islamist separatists with ties to foreign terrorist groups, hence loads of dough for fingering any beards!

DESERT RAT!

A Saudi prince is said to have poached over 2,100 endangered and internationally protected birds in a 21-day hunting safari in southwest Pakistan's Balochistan province.The findings were part of a report titled "Visit of Prince Fahd bin Sultan bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud regarding hunting of Houbara Bustards" prepared by Jaffar Baloch, divisional forest officer of the Balochistan forest and wildlife department.
