SMART GLASSES!

Intel Capital is planning to back Israeli smart-glasses maker OrCam with a $15-million investment. The OrCam is a wearable computer attached to a pair of eyeglasses. Using a five-megapixel camera, the computer reads visual cues that the user is otherwise oblivious to. The $2,500-gadget is able to read text and can learn to recognize faces and other objects.

Facebook’s $2 billion purchase of Oculus, the virtual reality equipment-maker, should have a direct and positive impact on the fortunes of Israeli companies in a number of industries — gaming, wearable technology, vision technology, and others.
